Vice guv favors transfer of provincial jail

MISAMIS Oriental Vice Governor Norris Babiera said the Provincial Government will prioritize the transfer of the provincial jail to a more strategic location.

“Nangita pa kita karon og investors labina nga dako ang capital outlay ani nga project so hopefully, makakita kita (We are still looking for investors for this project),” Babiera said in a radio interview.
The vice governor admitted that the current location of the provincial jail is not suitable especially that it is surrounded with government offices, schools business and private establishments.
Babiera was also worried considering that some of the inmates detained are high-profile criminals charged for big cases.
He said several jailbreaks have in fact occurred at the provincial jail, and some of those who escaped remain at large until now.
The transfer of the provincial jail to an appropriate location has long been considered by the Provincial Government, but this could not materialize due to some constraints.
