CDO: No. 1 in fight vs. corrupion--poll

CAGAYAN de Oro is now reportedly ranked first in the fight against corruption, based on the 2012 Social Weather Stations (SWS) Surveys.

Emilio Rana, city director of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), announced that Cagayan de Oro got a plus 36 sincerity rating in the fight against corruption from the recent SWS survey. The survey also listed the National Capital region, Davao City, Angeles City, Calabranzon, Cebu City, and Iloilo City in Number One.
Mayor Vicente Y. Emano said the survey proves that services provided by the City Government have been recognized by the people as “fast, efficient and reliable.”
Emano said he was overwhelmed with the results.
“The SWS survey would not lie and cannot be bribed to provide us with positive results. What is presented is not made up by mere imaginations but all facts. Despite all the criticisms from my detractors or those who wanted to take my place, I continued to do my job well in providing genuine public service to the people,” he said.
On the other hand, City Councilor Edgar Cabanlas said he does not believe in surveys.
Cabanlas said there has been a lot of corruption going on at the City Hall.
“I don’t know why they come up with that kind of survey. What is the basis of the survey and why they came up with positive results when we all know the real score? Let the people decide on who is telling the truth. Let us not base this on surveys,” he said.
But Councilor Alexander Dacer said he felt justified with the SWS survey, citing that all the efforts of the present administration to provide better service to the residents has really paid off.
“Instead of being envious, let us just all be proud of our achievements as Kagay-anons. This survey is indeed, a merit to our city,” Dacer said.
